Conversations Between Us
Public Program, Queens Museum, New York
April 2, 2016
This public program is the closing event of the exhibition welcome to what we took from is the state. Conversations Between Us included artists Ayesha Kamal Khan, Anushya Badrinath, Umber Majeed, Sue Jeong Ka, and curator, Sadia Shirazi, and built upon a study group the artists and curator participated in around Fred Moten and Stefano Harney's The Undercommons.
The participants considered the reading in relation to the framework of the exhibition, thinking through state formations, race, slavery, colonialism, the history of the South Asian Women's Creative Collective, cosmopolitanism and minoritarian politics today.
The program began with artists presenting on the works of other artists in the exhibition and then conversation unfolded and criss-crossed between the panelists, artworks, exhibition framework, and audience.
